On January 8, President Jamaluddin Jompa of Hasanuddin University, Indonesia, led a delegation to visit Fujian Normal University (FNU). President Zheng Jiajian and Vice President Ouyang Songying warmly received the guests. Representatives from the International Cooperation and Exchange Division and the Overseas Education College also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, President Zheng Jiajian provided an overview of FNU’s recent developments and highlighted its progress in exchanges and cooperation with Indonesia. He praised Hasanuddin University for its remarkable achievements in academic research and talent cultivation. He emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation would serve as a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the two universities. Zheng expressed his hope that this visit would open new avenues for cooperation by leveraging the strengths of both institutions. He proposed exploring deeper collaboration in areas such as discipline development, scientific research innovation, cooperative education, academic and cultural exchanges, and teacher-student exchanges. He envisioned the creation of a platform for academic dialogue and exchange, enabling both universities to work together in cultivating high-quality international talents.
President Jamaluddin Jompa introduced Hasanuddin University’s achievements and progress in international cooperation and exchanges. He expressed admiration for the century-long development of Fujian Normal University, acknowledging its strong reputation in humanities and social sciences. Jompa shared his hope that the signing of the memorandum would deepen practical cooperation between the two universities. He proposed initiatives such as joint talent cultivation, discipline development, scientific research innovation, and cultural exchanges through academic collaborations, curriculum partnerships, joint training programs, and student exchange initiatives. He emphasized that these efforts would foster long-term and friendly relations between the two institutions and contribute positively to advancing higher education cooperation between China and Indonesia.
During the meeting, both parties discussed establishing teaching and research partnerships, broadening areas of collaboration, integrating resources for cooperative education and student exchange programs, and exploring the establishment of an Indonesian Cultural Center at FNU. The meeting concluded with the signing of the "Memorandum of Cooperation on Academic Research between Fujian Normal University and Hasanuddin University in Indonesia."
